Simavi publishes Impact Report 2023

Globally, women and girls are disproportionately affected by the lack of access to safe drinking water and toilets. Therefore, Simavi works with partners in Africa and Asia on programmes that support local solutions by women and girls so that they gain access to water, sanitation and equal treatment.
'Because the climate crisis is first and foremost a water crisis, it is essential to bring the experiences of the women and girls most affected to where decisions are made, and budgets are allocated.' According to Simavi director Dieneke van der Wijk, that is exactly what Simavi did in 2023. 'Side by side with the women and partners from our programmes, we made ourselves heard in New York, in Stockholm, in Dubai, in the Netherlands and in the countries in which we work.'
Real impact on women and girls
Every year we bundle the stories from the countries where we work and the most important figures in our Impact Report. We challenge ourselves to report the actual impact of our work on women and girls. We work from our Theory of Change, in which we describe how our work and strategies contribute to our goal.

Read about how Simavi started the Sarwacha programme in Nepal with Dopper, organised a unique mudflat walk campaign to raise money for the Water Justice Fund, lobbied at the COP in Dubai for climate financing for women and girls, collected signatures to combat sextortion for water, and much more.
